Unblemish Review

unblemishAlthough the Unblemish line by Rodan and Fields uses many ingredients commonly available over the counter, the company claims they work most efficiently, when the regimen they have devised is followed exactly, according to their instructions. Since they are Stanford trained dermatologists, you are not just paying for simple over the counter ingredients, when you buy their Unblemish products, as you also receive the clinical expertise they use in producing these formulations, as well as, their expert recommendations on how best to use them, in order to achieve maximum results.

The regimen for Unblemish has four parts, which, according to Rodan and Fields, must be used daily, in the exact order specified, if satisfactory results are to be had.

The first part to the Unblemish system, is a wash, made primarily of sulphur, which is a natural, proven exfoliant, and works to rid your skin of the dead top layer, so it doesn’t have a chance to clog your pores. Since sulfur can be irritating, Rodan and Fields have also included in the wash formulation, green tea, chamomile, and aloe vera, which are all ingredients commonly used to calm irritated skin.

Second, you must use a choice of two toners, both of which are alcohol free. For persons with existing acne scars, there is the spot fading toner, which contains hydroquinone to gradually erase acne scar tissue, kojic acid and bearberry to even skin tone, as well as sea whip and arnica to calm and hydrate, or, if scar tissue is not a problem, there is the clarifying toner, which contains low levels of alpha hydroxy acid to unplug pores, as well as green tea extract to calm the skin.

The third part of the Unblemish regimen, is the daily spot treatment, which clears the skin of existing blemishes, and balances it to prevent more blemishes from appearing. The formulation is a gel, which enables the main ingredient, benzoyl peroxide, to penetrate deep into the pores, where it inhibits blemishes from forming. Chamomile and pomegranate are added to further soothe the skin, while allantoin and panthenol keep it hydrated.

The forth and last component of the Unblemish system, is a maintenance type, SPF 20, oil control lotion, which should be applied daily before putting on makeup, or otherwise going outside. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide provide complete protection, from both UVA and UVB rays, while the azelosome in it controls oil, to stop pore blockage and minimize shine, and the antioxidants it contains, further protect and soothe the skin.

All in all, the Unblemish system seems to be a good one to try, if you are looking for dermatologist grade results, without paying for them, since Rodan and Fields are dermatologists, after all, and wouldn’t be doing very well in business, if they didn’t continue to back up their product lines.
